Ingredients:
- Raw Bananas (Nendran or any firm variety) – 2 large
- Salt – to taste
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp (for color)
- Black Pepper or Red Chili Powder – ½ tsp (optional)
- Chaat Masala – ½ tsp (optional, for extra flavor)
- Oil – for deep frying
- Water – 2 cups
Step 1: Preparing the Bananas
- Peel the raw bananas and immerse them in turmeric water (mix turmeric powder with water) for 10 minutes to prevent browning.
- Pat them dry using a clean cloth or paper towel.
Step 2: Slicing the Bananas
- Using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer, slice the bananas into thin, even rounds.
- Ensure that the slices are uniform in thickness to ensure even frying.
Step 3: Frying the Wafers
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Drop the banana slices into the hot oil in small batches, ensuring they don’t overlap.
- Fry until the chips turn crispy and golden.
- Remove and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
Step 4: Seasoning & Storing
- While still warm, sprinkle the salt, black pepper, red chili powder, or chaat masala (as per taste).
- Allow the wafers to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
